MUSIC VIDEO: Brandon Ericson – Make A Toast
Brandon Ericson is a dope artist from Toronto. Below is his newest video titled, “Make a Toast”. Enjoy.

While Saukrates remains hard at work putting the finishing touches on a string of new music and singles, which will culminate with the release of his album Season One, early next year, the Canadian rapper/producer is excited to have partnered with Nike, lending his song “Say I” to the sportswear brand’s Always On campaign, a six-episode video series aimed at highlighting the lifestyles of select Nike athletes. While other artists involved include Vado, Stalley, and more, Saukrates and his “Say I” single provide the soundtrack for a day-in-the-life of Boston Bruins hockey player P.K. Subban.
Only one full season into his professional career in the NHL, P.K. Subban has already earned a reputation as one of the sport’s most exciting young talents, and it’s more than likely that the defenseman’s road to success followed a storyline very similar to the one told in Saukrates’ “Say I.” The song, driven forward by beating drums and ambient piano keys, plays as an anthem for perseverance as Saukrates sings on the hook, “I can do what I wanna/ And make you a believer, hear you say I/ From stadium to street corner/ I’ll make you a believer, make you say I.” The verses follow suit, with Saukrates weaving tales of hard work and dedication, all with the single-minded goal of self-improvement. “That little kid get a pass/ He do it on the field, and he doing it in class,” begins Saukrates, “See his homeroom teacher always put him on blast/ Saying, ‘Hard work’ll pay off, lay off ain’t an option.”

Video: JD Era – “Change” Feat. LOKZ
It’s hard out there for a kid, according to the video for JD Era’s single, “Change.” The song’s video treatment matches the call-to-arms consciousness from JD’s featured track on Real Frequency’s compilation album, The New North, which JD describes as “historic” in his behind-the-scenes video interview and is now available for sale, digitally through all major retailers and with physical copies available through Real Frequency’s Bandcamp page. The message of the track is reflected in the video’s main character: an Average Joey, a typical kid just trying to get by without getting bogged down by life’s obstacles. While dodging everyday evils like girl problems, bullies, and drugs, he finds solace in his headphones that contain LOKZ’ soulful hook and JD Era’s inspiring lyrics.

All you Musik Junkies out there don’t give up on your dreams. When times get hard and you feel like giving up put this song on repeat and get back to your grind!

The Real Frequency has been putting on for the local Toronto, Canada, scene for a minute now. We’ve already seen some of what’s to offer with previous singles from their new album, The New North, and the quality keeps coming with another single, “Change,” this one courtesy JD Era, also recently anointed as the newest artist signed to Raekwon’s Ice H20 label. In the coming weeks, The Real Frequency and JD Era will also release a video for the single.

The track, which also features LOKZ, is easily one of the smoother songs on the compilation album, a fact that, according to JD Era, compliments and plays up the power of the song’s the message. “‘Change” was inspired by the title of The Real Frequency’s project The New North,” explains Era, adding that he feels the “album symbolizes a changing of the guard, a passing of the torch to those next up from Toronto.” JD’s laidback flow is framed by bouncing percussion, clean guitar, and fluid piano licks courtesy of producer Soundsmith and complimented by LOKZ’s effortlessly soulful vocals.

The Real Frequency crew first joined forces on radio, featuring up and coming local Toronto talent and eventually becoming the premier hip-hop show on Canada’s first urban radio station. Since, the collective has moved on to new, exciting endeavors with the center piece being their debut album, The New North, a project that continues the tradition the guys started on the airwaves, featuring over 30 artists that best represent Toronto’s new era of hip-hop. The other week saw the release of the album’s first single, Shad’s Frank Dukes-produced “Flawless,” and now, rapper/producer Rich Kidd is helming the album’s second single, “Represent,” bringing MC’s King Reign, Shaun Boothe, and Richie Sosa along as the four budding lyricists put on for their city.
