DOWNLOAD: Kornbread -Shut This Down ft. Skeem Price
Southern California MC, Kornbread (1/3 of the Hip-Hop group, Those Chosen), is preparing to release his first solo venture entitled Strays. This LP will be produced entirely by S. California producer, J. Bizness. The overall concept of the Strays LP is a portrait of street life told from a lyrically insightful point of view.

“Shut This Down”, the first leak from the solo debut, features fellow West Coast emcee Skeem Price of Illregular Music Collective. The track is a gritty, high-energy street anthem anyone from B-Boys, D-Boys to your average club-goer can appreciate.

Video: JUNO WHAT?! – You Cant Stop It
Juno What?! is quickly becoming the leading practitioner of high-energy disco, and live electro-funk. In 2008, two members of the Colorado super-group The Motet were looking to expand their musical prowess. It isn’t every day you have the opportunity to shake it to the tune of talk boxes and synthesizers. Their sound is ahead of its time yet still rooted in the foundation of early-80′s dance grooves with a devout appreciation for sternum-bumping progressive themes. Juno What?! consists of Joey Porter (keyboards, talk box) Dave Watts (drums, sampling) and Portland’s own Steve Watkins (keyboards, talk box, bass).

This group has a lot of soul and a grand sense of humor, they are masters of the good time! Check out their new video to see what its all about.

This EP is Hot off the press. After releasing his acclaimed debut single Cosmic Lab/20 Winks last year, gaining fans across the worldwide music scene and airplay from the likes of Gilles Peterson and Benji B along the way, London’s BUG is back with his debut EP Mechanical Soul.

Mechanical Soul is released on Jus Like Music Records and encompasses BUG’s uniquely soulful, head-nodding hip-hop sound, with a step towards the resurgence of that 80s nu-funk vibe.

Download: DaVinci – “D.R.E.A.M.”
DaVinci has never shied away from life’s harsher realities. It’s not quite that he embraces the negative – he doesn’t – but like any truly good, honest storyteller, DaVinci knows that in order to move forward we first need to make sense of the past and understand the present, and we see DaVinci doing just that in the video for “D.R.E.A.M.,” a song that served as the lead single from DaVinci’s recently released EP, Feast Or Famine. “The details and personal confliction within hustling is something people tend ignore,” explains DaVinci on the video’s inspiration. “I was as specific to my own experiences as possible; it puts you in my mind – in my environment – so the listener can start to understand the hidden meanings in the lyrics.”
This is my favorite track on the EP. Turn your speakers all the way UP and BANG this Shit!

The Louisiana band is ready to release its debut LP In Light. Below, “Meantime”, the album’s second track, gets remixed by British indie-folk group Bombay Bicycle Club. Enjoy!

J. Bizness decided to put out a new beattape this month to make up for his lack of instrumental releases this year. His latest project titled Flips is paying homage to classic hip-hop production through the artform of “flipping” samples.

You hip-hop heads already know what this is but for the babies; “Flipping” a sample is a term commonly used by beat-makers when referring to manipulating an existing piece of music. The general technique is to sample a record or any audio file and dissect the audio in order to make another beat. It’s a pretty simple concept that isn’t always as simple to execute.

We hope you enjoy this latest work and are staying up to date with Illregular Instrumentals releases.

Jensen Sportag create the type of R&B-brushed electro that feels plucked from your uncle’s Detroit living room in ’89 and presented in the same tortoiseshell case it originally came in – smooth music, contemporary as it is timeless.
